High End Makeup Haul

Good Evening, lovelies.

Last Saturday some of my coworkers and I decided we would go make up shopping specifically. So after work we headed straight to the mall. (Before I begin with anything, I just want to add a disclaimer that I am not bragging whatsoever. The majority of my makeup is drug store and I wanted to splurge just a bit with some money that I received for my birthday.) Back to the regularly scheduled program. :)

We went into Forever 21 as our "meeting place" and I ended up buying this really adorable shirt that I'm sure I'll show you in a future post. Funny story about this shirt is that I like the look of it better backwards than how it looks front side forward! I really hope no body calls me out for wearing this shirt backwards haha!

After we all met up we booked it to Sephora. Sephora is like a makeup girls playground and it felt like we got the OK to go completely wild in there. I got everything that I essentially "needed" to grab when it comes to make up.

First I went for the Too Faced Shadow Insurance. You've seen me talk about this before because beside's the UD Primer Potion, the TF Shadow Insurance is my absolute favorite. I was going between buying that one which I know is a good one or the MAC Painterly Paint Pot. I was given a little bit of background from one of my friends that the Painterly Paint Pot creases a bit. I'm sure it could be different for everyone but my purpose for a primer was so that my eye makeup does NOT BUDGE and I usually get that peace of mind with the Shadow Insurance. I bought the full sized version which is the first full sized that I got of these. Totally worth it.

Next, I went for a Kat Von D Lock - It Featherweight Primer and my goooodness is it good. My friend Nicki recommended it and I've never had any of Kat Von D's products before so I thought I would give it a whirl. It's such a great primer because it's not really silicone based. It's a waterbased formula so I kind of dissolves into your skin? I'm not sure if I'm doing this primer justice but my first impression of it is that I love it already. How did I go so long without it!?

After getting those I knew I wanted to grab a NARS foundation. I've only ever had one high end foundation before and I hear great things about it but it just wasn't my cup of tea. Amazing brand though. Any who, I knew I wanted a Nars foundation but I wasn't sure on which one. I asked a girl who worked there on her opinion on what she thought depending on my skin routine and what type of skin I have. We talked a lot of what she thought was best. (Thank you so much for your insight and input! It means a lot that you really listened and helped me out!) We came to the conclusion that I do like more coverage because my cheeks tend to be red so I would like to cover all that up without being cake-y. We choose the Nars All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation in Gobi. I tried it for the first time today and my first impression is that I'm HIGHLY impressed. Of course I didn't think any less could come from Nars as they always have great reviews but I am so glad that we chose this one. Definitely going to be one of my favorites and quickly.

So that was all I got from Sephora. While I was checking out the girl at the register said I was eligable for my free Beauty Insider birthday gift so I chose the Marc Jacobs eyeliner and lipstick duo. Two thumbs up from me. The lipstick is a bit darker than I usually wear but it lasts a really long time and the eyeliner didn't budge. They were great picks for being a birthday gift. Thanks Sephora. :)

Our last stop was MAC and the only thing I really wanted to buy from there was the Mac Fix Plus. I really wanted a setting spray and I've used the Urban Decay setting sprays before and I loved them. Hearing all the wonderful things about this Mac Fix Plus I knew I just had to give it a try, so I bought that as my last thing.

I just wanted add what Mia from confidentlycurly.com bought me for my birthday! Oh my goodness! When I opened her present to me, I found not one but two Anastasia Glow Kits in Gleam and That Glow! (Thank you Mia!) Gleam has the shades Hard Candy, Mimosa, Starburst, and Crushed Pearl. Absolutely gorgeous highlights! My favorites are the ones in That Glow. The shades are Sunburst, Golden Bronze, Bubbly, and Dripping in Gold. Those are my favorite kind of bronzey highlight. Both palettes are stunning and I nearly jumped out of my seat when I opened them. I've used them all already - using one shade one day and another the next. I saw on instagram this girl mixed all four from one palette and applied it. It came out beautiful. I think I'm going to try that out!

I've very excited with all that I got especially because I know it was things I "needed" when it comes down to makeup.(I used the word needed loosely as I know I don't ever NEED makeup.) I had a great time laughing and being mini make up artists with my friends. Coming home, I was excited to play with all my stuff which by the way - first impressions of all is really good! Top notch.

A La Maison de Provence Hand Cream

Hello There!

So I quickly wanted to come on here to talk about a little hidden gem I found that I thought I would share with you. My hands tend to get really dry (especially in the winter) and I've gone through quite a few hand creams throughout the years. I don't know about you but I've never found the perfect hand cream. They're either really greasy and you have to air dry your hands to make it go away - you know what I'm talking about, the flopping your hands in air whether to let nail polish dry or to dry your hands from greasy hand creams, let's be real we've all done it. ;) Or have you had that experience with your hand cream where it's kind of like water? Where it'll evaporate and it didn't really hydrate your skin? On top of those concerns I CANNOT have one that's strong scented. I tend to get headaches, light headed and even nauseous when they're strong scented. Your hands go near your face and nose so often that I need to make sure of the fragrance before ever putting a scented hand cream on. I once put one on that was "cupcake" scented.. I had to scrub that off my hands after a while because it got that bad.

Any who, I know you'd probably want me to stop blabbing about my past bad experiences I've had and tell you all about this liquid gold... I present to you A La Maison de Provence Hand Cream!

 I actually got it as a mini birthday present. My first impression of it was that it looked super cute but I figured it would be like all the others that I've tried. A couple days later I decided to put some on and I fell in love! One thing I noticed right away was that it absorbed into your skin and didn't leave it with that greasy feeling. Second thing I noticed, it actually moisturized my hands. The third thing, it was very light scented. Pretty fresh and relaxing scent.

I got the Coconut Creme which has the moisturizing shea butter and argan oil in it. I read the back and it's such a wholesome cream. It states that it's 100% vegetable based, it's ultra moisturizing, it doesn't contain SLS, Parabens or Pthalates, it's cruelty free and biodegradable.

A La Maison de Provence is a shop that uses "Traditional French Formula's". They have a shop in Huntington, New York or you can easily buy their products online on Amazon. Not only does this brand have hand creams but they also carry body lotions, soups and shower gel's. (I did my research haha.) I might just go off and buy a body lotion from them and watch it work wonders for my skin.

I'm not sponsored or affiliated with this brand but I was too excited about it that I had to share with you. It's definitely a staple of mine and something I'll purchase once this tube is done. So if you're like me and struggle with finding the perfect hand cream, I would advise giving this one a try. It sure hasn't disappointed me.

Floral Romper Outfit

Welcome back little birdies!
(I thought that was pretty cute..common' :) )

Today, I bring you a comfy laid back yet still girly outfit post! I'm so excited to have done this because this is one of my favorite outfits. It's a laid back floral romper. Mia from confidentlycurly.com and I took a little road trip so she can take these photos for me. (Thank you!) Even though we spend most of our friendship in a car, she agreed to take the hour drive (such an amazing friend!). It was a little chilly by the time we got there which I wasn't expecting and maaan was it windy. Overall I feel this was the perfect setting for this outfit. However, due to personal reasons getting ready for this, I didn't get to pair it with any accessories with it. Sorry! Anyways, I'm going to stop blabbering. Let's get to it. (Warning: This post is photo heavy)

This floral romper is one of my favorite outfits to wear. It is so comfortable and perfect for the beautiful weather we have been getting lately. I actually got this romper second hand so I'm not sure where it's from or how much it costs (Sorry!). Besides being printed with beautiful flowers, this romper also has a collar which is something I tend to lean towards when it comes to clothing. You can pair a necklace with this if you so desire. I would lean more towards a longer necklace because it has the collar. 

I decided to venture out from the normal everyday tights after seeing that they have designs on some of them! I bought these tights from Target for $8! It's one of my favorites and I really think I'll start to stock up on them. Although very cute they are pretty light weight and might tear easily. I would recommend getting a second pair as back up. These little booties were a Christmas gift to me from one of my best friends. I'm not sure how much they cost but I do know they were from Marshall's. You can always find good deals there.

I said in a previous post that I would start to write down what make up products I was using also. You can't tell in this photo at all but I did use the Natural Eyes Palette from Too Faced. I'm wearing L'Oreal True Match foundation in W1-2 porcelain, and Maybelline Instant Age Rewind concealer in Light (That is a concealer I always go back to! It's wonderful.) and finished off my face with Rimmel Stay Matte pressed powder. Maybelline's Eye Studio gel liner for my wing and for my lashes I have on Bare Mineral's Lash Domination. Lastly, on my lips I'm wearing a combination of Too Faced Naked Dolly and Kiko's Creamy Gloss in 101.

I know I say this a lot but this has to be one of my favorite outfits. It's super cute, comfortable, and pretty easy. You can pair it with a leather jacket to make it more edgy if you wanted to go on a night out or pair it with a jean jacket if you wanted to keep it causal during the day.

Let's Go Shopping!

Hello again, Lovely!

A couple months ago I met up with one of my best friends for a shopping morning. Good thing about shopping in the morning is that you get the stores pretty much to yourself. I splurged just a bit in just three different stores and I thought I'd share that with you!

First store we went too was Macy's. I don't shop too much at Macy's because it can get a bit expensive but I swear my friend has shopping luck. She always finds things either on sale or finds a way to get percentage off of it. First thing I picked up was Jessica Simpson Super Skinny Ultimate Stretch black pants. Unfortunately, these were not on sale. I bought another pair of skinnies that fit more into a thick legging category. These are from the brand Tinseltown Denim Couture. The reason I bought these was because several years ago I went to Puerto Rico to visit some family. We went shopping and to my surprise they had a Zara! They don't have Zara in my state so I was really excited to be able to shop there. I had a hard time finding those thick legging type of pants that had leather on either the front or the sides but I found it right away when shopping at Zara and those became my favorite pair of "fancy" pants. (I giggled too while writing "fancy pants".) Anyways, fast forward to today those pants no longer fit me so when I went to Macy's and saw these I knew I just had to grab a pair! Thankfully for me they were on sale!

My friend Jenn had spotted this simple blue shirt that at first I wasn't too sure on but it's one of those that you just have to try on and make your final decision. I'm not even sure on what type of material it is. I tried it on anyways and to my surprise it actually didn't look that bad! It went really well with the leggings and I'm so ready to pair it with my leather jacket! I also got this beautiful navy blue stripped peplum shirt. I love me peplum style shirts (even skirts or pants!) but this one had extra material on the sides. It's a simple yet beautiful shirt and it's one of my favorite purchases. Finally on our way out of Macy's we spotted two of the most gorgeous light weight jackets you've ever seen! She bought a beautiful pink blazer type jacket it was short in the back and tappered off to a point at the front with this really cool design at the back. Mine was a bit more simple but it was a lovely maroon color and I just couldn't walk away without it. My friend does have it with her at the moment so I'll just insert a picture here if I can find it on the Macy's website.

The next store I went into was Garage. I'm pretty sure it's a Canadian store that just recently made it's way into the U.S. They have super cute things in there as well but I seemed to get really picky with what I bought when I was in there so all I ended up getting was this printed "ballerina" shirt. Now I have a little story behind this one. I saw a shirt pretty much exactly like this one in the beginning of the store with other colors and patterns along with it. I fell in love with the floral print so I held onto it while I continued shopping. (I clearly didn't mind it was $15!) I made my way into the sales side and what do I find but non other than the EXACT same shirt for - wait for this.. - $5!!!! Whhhaat!? I tried them both on and they both had the same fit! So of course I went for the 5 buck one! What an absolute steal. I also grabbed a pack of those cute little elastics for my hair.

The last store that I was able to go a little crazy in was Charlotte Russe. I really wanted to go to this one because the Charlotte Russe near me closed so I had to drive pretty far just to go to this one. I was in a bit of a rush by the time I got into this store because I had to go to work that day also. I'll start with the pants. I bought two of these really cute high waisted skinnies. I thought they were super cute and super comfortable so I grabbed two! One in grey and one in a military green color. Good thing about buying two of them was get one buy one for... $12.50! These pants originally cost $32.99 ;) Certainly can't complain! The last two items I bought were these two dresses. The first one I saw I thought was really simple and sweet. It's definitely my kind of style. It's a navy blue with a stripped skirt attached. It also has a little peek-a-boo cut out in the back that gave it a cute little touch. I love it. On the other side of the spectrum from the blue one, I got a nude little number! Nude's are my favorite colors to go for in clothing and makeup so I knew I'd be walking out with this one when I found it! It's fully lace and the length is just beautiful. It's a classic dress and I was already thinking of what to pair it with when I bought it! Looove.

The next thing is this beautiful little Kensie bag. I didn't buy this bag, my friend actually just randomly bought it for me (Thank you if you're reading this! You're the best!) She knows me so well because it's the cutest thing I've ever seen! I'll be using it as my makeup bag so you'll be seeing it again in a future post!

So that was it! I was really pleased with everything that I got and a lot of it for a good price. I was in need of a shopping spree. Just want to throw in a mini disclaimer: I'm not making this to brag, it's just a haul in blog post form. I've never done a post like this so I thought it would be nice to show you.

Too Faced Natural Eyes Palette

Good Morning, Gorgeous!
(If  you're reading this at any other time - Good day/ Good evening/ Good Night, Gorgeous!)

Hope you're doing well. Today I have a small review on my new favorite palette at the moment which is Too Faced Natural Eyes Palette. You guys - I'm OBSESSED with this palette at the moment! It's one of my favorites that I own as of yet.

Every time I open this palette to do my makeup it impresses me more and more. Is there a such thing of a palette making you feel beautiful!? Like I've mentioned in past posts, I'm a sucker for nude shades. It's non-failing!

You can never go wrong with natural shadows. This palette has three different "sections" to it. The daytime section is the top row which consists of three shadows. The brow highlight "Heaven". The lid color "Cashmere Bunny" and the outer corner color "Sexspresso". The classic section consists of "Silk Teddy", "Push-Up" and "Erotica". Fashion is the final section which consists of the shades "Nudie", "Honey Pot" and "Chocolate Martini". Can I just say I love the names of the shadows in this palette. They are so girly and gorgeous.. Cashmere Bunny.. Honey Pot!? I love it. It could just be me though.

I was taking a look around my YouTube subscription box and ended up watching Hannah Joelle's video of her Top 5 Products. I was excited to see that she featured Too Faced Natural Matte palette. It looks like there are a couple of these palettes with a bit of difference to them. Like a series of palette's! Hannah's was obviously an all matte palette (it looks absolutely beautiful and I might just splurge and grab one for myself). What I found interesting when watching her talk about the palette is that the Natural Matte and the Natural Eyes have the same 1st section of shadows! (The shadows of the pictures above) So as you would guess, those are the matte shades in Natural Eyes. If you want to know more about the Natural Matte Palette then check out Hannah's video HERE .

I know what you're thinking, what's the difference between this nude palette and all the others?! Well, I'm glad you asked! What I love about this palette is that you get SOO many different looks from these shades. Not only do you have the different sections with the shades that work well with it, but you can also "mismatch" and try different shades from other sections. You'll have a lot of new looks to try out!

So far, it has been my go-to palette and hasn't disappointed me yet. I would say if you're looking to splurge on a higher end nude make up palette and already have Urban Decay's Naked palettes - this is a must. It is $36 here in the States. I'm not quite sure how it would differ in other countries. 11 Questions Asked

1. Where do you find your inspiration for your blog posts?

Honestly, I try to write about things that interest me. Something I would enjoy reading. It's very difficult for me to just write about anything. Seeing other bloggers who write about things that I enjoy reading makes me work harder to try and bring out the best in my blog.

2. If you could pick a curry to describe your personality which would it be and why?

Ah! I have failed you, Leya! I've actually never had curry before. So I don't really know what's out. It's a great question though, definitely made me giggle!

3. If you could bring a celebrity back from the dead who would it be?

Haha this is a cool question. Would you believe I've never thought about it before. I think I would have to choose Elvis Presley or Johnny Cash. There's just something about the men from that era that interest me and obviously these two are iconic.

4. What is your must have beauty product and item of clothing and why?

I would have to say my must have beauty product right now would have to be mascara. I know it's a cliche answer but as the weather gets warmer and "natural" makeup becomes more of a thing, you always want your lashes to look va va voom! My must have clothing item would be rompers (otherwise known as playsuits). I feel like that's what I'm going for now that the weather is getting warmer. I just love 'em!

5.  Describe yourself in 3 words.

Loving, Bubbely, Short (haha)

6. Pet Peeve?

I have a couple of pet peeve's but the one that I could think of now is misspelling of words or use of double negatives. Now, I am not the grammar police or anything as you can clearly tell by my blog posts. However, auto correct is my best friend with words that I don't know how to spell. As far as double negatives go, just ask my friends and they'll tell you I've corrected them a couple times on it. I've corrected myself on it plenty of times! Just a small pet peeve of mine. :)

7.  Explain your blogging process,  what do you do first and what do you do last?

I don't really have a set way of blogging. Borrrrinnng. I know. My process just consists of taking photos and writing my post. I've only just recently learned how to attach the labels. Sometimes I have the post ready and just need to take photos for them, other times I need the photos already set before I'm motivated to write the actual post. I'm sure one day my answer will change and I'll have more of a process.

8. Where did your blog name originate from?

Well, when I first started my blog it had a horrendous name that I will not mention (although you can search back through my posts and know what it is. Haha) I went on with that for a while before I really thought about what I wanted. I chose "Blissful" because I feel like I'm a pretty happy and bubbely person. "Beauty" because it's what I wanted to focus on - what's "beautiful" to me and what's beautiful in the eyes of others. "Bird" because they're my favorite animals (Sparrows to be exact). Thus, Blissful Beauty Bird became the name.

9. If you could collaborate with anyone on your blog who would it be?

There's so many I couldn't possibly choose one! There are so many amazing bloggers out there. One fashion blogger who always has great posts is Jessie Chanes from Seams For A Desire and that would be a great collaboration. But again sooo many to choose from.

10. If you could be anyone but yourself for a day who would it be?

Besides the obvious comment about being yourself which I truly am happy with. I wouldn't want to be anyone else BUT myself. If there is someone else who's life I'd take a dab in for one day would be Lucy or Lydia from LucyandLydia. Besides them being absolutely gorgeous, those two are ALWAYS happy and look like are truly enjoying themselves which is always nice to see.


11. Biggest fear in life?

My biggest fear in life would be to not be successful in doing something I love and not being happy in the end. I'm a firm believer in "do what you love" and it certainly takes hard work and persistence to get there.

Without A Shadow Of A Doubt

Welcome Back!

One thing I've noticed about my make up is that I tend to stay with what I know. I've contemplated doing a post on all my lipsticks but honestly, they would all be pretty much the same color from different brands. Or the same kind of blush. Same is true for my eye shadows. I've always and still do favor neutral shades verses over the top colors. I'm not much of a bold make up wear-er.. I know me saying this will not stop me from purchasing more nude shadows in the future - I've just come to a knowledge of it. 

Here comes the long winded background story of how I decided to choose this beautiful palette. You might want to grab a coffee. I came across this YouTube video by Sonia where she did an absolutely beautiful purple look. That video itself led me to my endeavor of a higher end palette with a bit of color flowing through it. With some research I came to the conclusion that I wanted the Urban Decay Vice 3 Palette. It has some an array of lovely colors that I didn't already have in my collection. I would also like to add that once I get something stuck in my mind - like buying this palette - I get very impatient and have a need to go out right that very moment and buy it. So by no surprise I found myself at Ulta rummaging Urban Decay's  products looking for it. When I was trying to find this it was the beginning of January 2016, and this palette had came out last year. They had a display of it with a tester of the product but no actual palettes to sell. I stalked the store for about a week trying to see if they'd restock when finally an employee let me know that because it was last years palette, they might not be getting it back in stock. I was super bummed about that because I already had my heart set on that one. Before knowing that the new Urban Decay Vice 4 palette was coming out only a week or two after I decided to go for another palette. I was contemplating between the Electric Palette or this Shadow Box palette. I was really looking for a bit of color but I came to the conclusion that the Electric palette was TOO much color for me. I knew I wouldn't be using them all or even at all. So I went for the Shadow Box Palette.

The Urban Decay Shadow Box Palette is small but packs quite a punch. It comes with 12 shades; 11 of them shimmer, 1 matte. I know a few of the colors in this palette are in some of the Naked palettes such as Sin. They are all shimmer  shades except for Blackout. Blackout is the only matte shade in this palette (mind you the shimmer from the other shades do fall out onto Blackout which is why it looks a bit shimmer-y. I assure you, it's not.) It has a lovely array of neutral shades like Lost, Baked Cowboy, and Smog and if you'd like that pop of color you can add the beautiful purple, pink, green and blue shades. I feel like no matter how many neutral palettes you have, and in my case a whole bunch, this palette although small is a gem in the midst of your collection.

Overall I feel that if you're looking to dip your toes in the ocean of beautiful bold colors - this is the palette for you. It is a higher end product but well worth every penny. I say give it a try and see what amazing looks you can get out of the 12 colors in the palette.
